Toby trained as a Director and Dramaturg at the Central School of Speech and Drama and then with the National Theatre Studio.
As a Freelance Director, Toby has produced work with NYT, Southwark Playhouse, Ovalhouse and Lyric Hammersmith. He directed Warheads at the Park Theatre in August 2019 which was nominated for an Olivier Award for Outstanding Achievement and received unanimous ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Critical Acclaim.
He is currently developing Muck with the Fencity Players at Norwich Arts Centre and has just directed Simon Stephens' Punk Rock at Stratford East early 2021.
Toby is co founder of Sketty Theatre (sketty.org.uk), an interdisciplinary production company, fusing text, puppetry and movement. Their work toured nationally to the Bristol Old Vic Studio, Ustinov Studio and the New Wimbledon to name a few, producing 4 critically-acclaimed new plays. Their work was developed with the support of Soho Theatre, Ovalhouse and the NT Studio and was frequently funded by Arts Council England and The Peggy Ramsay Foundation
