Playwriting Masterclass with Dipo Agboluaje

Tuesday 16 July, 6:30-10pm* at Southwark Playhouse Elephant Playwriting Masterclass with Olivier-nominated writer Dipo Agboluaje, winner of the Alfred Fagon prize for playwriting for his play Iya-Ile (The First Wife) in 2009. Participants will get to do practical workshops based around character development and storytelling. __________________ Oladipo ‘Dipo’ Agboluaje is a Nigerian Playwright and Academic. His first play Early Morning was produced in 2003 at Oval House Theatre in South London; it was followed by a string of original plays, adaptations and radio plays. His first collection of plays, Plays One, was published by Oberon in 2014. He is the 2009 winner of the Alfred Fagon prize for playwriting for his play Iya-Ile (The First Wife) which was also nominated for an Olivier Award that same year. His writing deals with identity and belonging, and the African Diasporic condition and he has had his worked frequently staged at Soho Theatre where he was Writer in Residence. Oladipo has also published a number of poems and short stories. Further credits include New Nigerians (Arcola Theatre), The Garbage King (Unicorn Theatre), Say Goodbye Twice (BBC Radio) and The Estate & The Christ of Coldharbour Lane (Soho Theatre). * Sessions are scheduled till 10pm to give everyone the opportunity to have a go. However, some sessions may end earlier, and you will always have the opportunity to leave slightly early should you need to.
Cancellation Policy
Refund policy: Should you have to miss a session, we can offer a partial refund of 50% up to 48 hours before the session. We won’t be able to issue refunds for requests on shorter notice. You can also find a replacement to take your place during the session.
