ALT. Drop-in with Gemma Hancock
Practical masterclass with Emmy-nominated casting director Gemma Hancock
Service Description
Mon 13th November 18.30-21.30 A 3-hour practical Masterclass with casting director Gemma Hancock. Gemma has been working in casting for over 20 years and is currently a casting director for the in-house casting department at the BBC, working on Casualty, Father Brown, Sister Boniface and Shakespeare & Hathaway. Gemma and her partner Sam Stevenson were nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for their work on the BBC adaptation of Emma. Having looked at your Spotlight CV and Showreel, Gemma will send you a specific scene from a TV drama she has cast to look at a day or two before the workshop. Each actor will read through their scene for the group and Gemma will offer feedback and the opportunity for participants to work the notes into a second reading. This workshop offers the opportunity to master the process from the moment you walk through the door - what is expected of an actor in the room, how to master the self-tape and how to hone technical audition skills. There will be opportunity for questions to be answered as they come up during the workshop as well as a Q&A towards the end of the session. Please note our drop-in sessions are open to all - you do not need to have taken part in an ALT. programme before.
